ankind is an exclusively on-line game, where the number of participants is limitless. All players take their course simultaneously in one universe. The game takes place in a vast galaxy where the dimensions are almost boundless. The galaxy is composed of 900 million planets; each possessing its own characteristics and special appearance that make them unique within the universe. The game takes place in real time; whether its players are connected or not, time passes, and the universe evolves. Each element that makes up the galaxy is alive and continues to develop as time passes; The suns rise and set at the surface of the planets, the seasons pass, the weather changes, planets age, volcanos are active, etc... The player's objective is to follow the evolution and to assist the development of humanity. Mankind's galaxy is composed of 2 rival empires that fight to defend their territories and to conquer the opposing empire. Players entering the game become citizens of either empire. A never ending adventure awaits the designated player. They are free to choose their destiny: military under the orders of the empire, merchant, mercenary, pirate, or even emperor. They make political, economic, and military history for each empire; and in the end, for all of humanity.
Mankind has the appearance of a real time strategy game, but everything is in 3D, the player controls its vessels and other vehicles which can move from one star system to another; the same applies for ground activities on planets. It explores and visualizes all environments entirely in 3D and creates an exterior point of view. It controls vehicles and gives them orders to carry out. A series of several orders permit pre-defined actions of all types; to change positions, attack, defend, repair, construct, etc... It controls vehicles and their stations. There are different kinds of installations; ground, spatial, maritime. They have diverse functions like the vehicles: military base, mining exploitation, laboratory technology, tower defender, warehouse, etc... It constructs stations which can exploit the resources which make up the planets. Its natural resources permit it to develop new technology which then allows it to construct more powerful stations, to generate vehicles even more powerful, and so on... If the player would like to govern their own colonies, they must prove themselves responsible; take care of the men who inhabit the cities, protect them, provide for their needs, etc... They must make and achieve the capacity to develop and to maintain an economy between the colonies; it is necessary to develop an enterprise whose span must reflect administering all of humanity.
By war, commerce, management and development, the group, or one against the other; with or against the empire; will have to find their way in this endless universe...
